It is H-1B Season!

The new year brings new opportunity to enter employees in the H-1B lottery. H-1B is the most popular temporary work status for foreign professionals. H-1B status also creates a path to Green Card eligibility. However, the government issues a limited number of new H-1B visa numbers each fiscal year. Since there are great benefits to H-1B status, the annual lottery is competitive. The time is ripe for interested U.S. employers to register their prospective employees.Foreign nationals with a job or job offer in the U.S. and at least a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) might be eligible to apply for H-1B status. In March, we can register candidates for the H-1B lottery. Once an applicant is registered, they are subject to the government’s lottery system. Lottery selections begin April 1, 2023.USCIS will accept new H-1B applications for those applicants who are selected in the lottery.  It is impossible to predict whether an application will be selected. Those with a U.S. master’s degree have greater odds of approval. It may take more than one attempt to obtain H-1B status.Employees with approved H-1B status will have H-1B work authorization beginning on October 1, 2023.
