Smoother Process for Spouses and Children Extending or Changing Their Temporary Status

Many immigration applications require the applicant to attend an in-person biometrics appointment. At the appointment, an applicant usually has their photo and fingerprints taken.  This government requirement adds delays and fees. The delays have increased during the pandemic due to office closures and appointment backlogs.Fortunately, the government no longer requires biometrics appointments for spouses and children seeking to extend or change the following temporary status: H-4, L-2, E-1, E-2, or E-3. This change will help streamline the extension process for many employees and their families.
